NORTHERN PROVINCE

MUSANZE — Dr Charles Karemanjingo, the Rector of Higher Institute of Agriculture and Animal husbandry (ISAE Busogo) has called upon private business entrepreneurs to invest in students’ accommodation. He said construction of hostels would improve education standards.

The rector made the call during a dinner held over the weekend with businessmen, bank managers, BDS (Business Development Service) and hotel managers operating in Northern Province.

In his discussion, Dr. karemanjingo indicated that the institute has no capacity to provide accommodation to all students and the staff members and therefore called upon the private sector to take the business opportunity ISAE offers.

Over 1500 students were reported to be lacking descent accommodation as the majority of them reside in bad houses from the neighbouring flood prone trading centre Byangabo.

The rector said that whereas there are high measures of performance being set for both the students and teachers, Excellency can not be achieved without descent places of residence.

The dinner was attended by area rich businessmen; Sina Gerald-Nyirangarama, Bona Niyitegeka-Virunga transport agency, was later joined by governor Boniface Rucagu and the district mayor Celestin Karabayinga.

After discussions, the private business entrepreneurs made pledges to study the situation and would make a quick plan of investing in the residential infrastructure.
