The Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Aloisea Inyumba, past on yesterday after a long illness. The New Times wants to take this moment to join the Rwandan people and friends of Rwanda in saluting one of the greatest women this country has been blessed with. She will forever be remembered for her stellar contribution before, during and after the Liberation struggle, that led to the creation of the new Rwanda. After the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, Inyumba worked in various prominent capacities including Minister of Gender, the head of the Unity and Reconciliation Commission, Governor of the former Kigali-Rural province and as Senator. She lived a life that will remain exemplary. It was a life of noble sacrifice, integrity, patriotism, grace, assertiveness and character. From a young age, she committed her life to helping Rwandan refugees return home. And when that mission was accomplished, she worked tirelessly to ensure that Rwandans lived together harmoniously and developed together as a people and a nation. Her life was truly rich and fulfilling. She will not only be remembered for who she was, but she stood for as well.A great woman has passed but her ideas, vision and passion will remain alive.  Fare thee well Inyumba, you will be greatly missed. We take this time to send our condolences to her bereaved family.May her soul rest in peace.
