THIS year’s Cecafa quarter finalists Amavubi will play hosts Angola in a friendly match on December 22 in Lubango City, according to the Angolan Football Federation (FAF).The vice-president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), João Lusivikueno, confirmed the development on Tuesday saying that the match will be used to help the Palancas Negras enhance their preparations for next year’s African Cup of Nations due to be held in South Africa. When contacted, Amavubi head coach Mulutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic said that even after a disappointing exit from Cecafa Tusker Cup, he will still use the game to continue preparing the national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers as well as the CHAN qualifiers – all due in March and June next year. However, the Serbian whose side bowed out of the regional tournament, must search for new strikers to lead Amavubi’s striking force when they head to Luanda. With Jerome Sina ruled out of the game, APR striker Farouk Ruhinda, Mukura’s Emmanuel Sebanani and Uganda based Kipson Atuheire, who features for URA, are possible options upfront if Tunisian based pair of Olivier Karekezi and Meddie Kagere are not released by their respective clubs (Bizertin and Esperance de Zarsis). The Amavubi technical team must also find a long term cure of poor goalkeeping exhibited by Jean Claude Ndoli which helped Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Stars snatch a 2-0 victory courtesy of Amir Kemba and John Bocco goals in either half and qualify to the semi finals of the tournament.Besides Amavubi, Palancas Negras will play Gambia on December 15 and Cameroon on December 19 in Lubango city, Southern Huila Province.Angola is in Group A of the CAN 2013 along with South Africa, Cape Verde and Morocco.
