Three ministers today briefed legislators about events following the outbreak of violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the ensuing UN Group of experts report "falsely” linking Rwanda to the crisis.

The ministers of Foreign Affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo, of Defence, James Kabarebe as well as Finance Minister, John Rwangombwa, were in Parliament to share with lawmakers on the DRC crisis so that the House can ably play an active role in the peace efforts through parliamentary diplomacy.

Apart from backing the ongoing ICGLR process, Parliament backed government in all its efforts geared at pacifying the region through dialogue.

Speaker Rose Mukantabana stressed that Rwanda is a peaceful country that seeks nothing other than peace with its neighbours.

She told the gathering that the House is increasingly hurt by the fact that the organisation "we all belong to, which is the UN” continues to base its decisions on faulty reports.

Parliament has also committed itself to deeply examine why the explanations given by the Rwandan government are continuously ignored.

MPs and the ministers agree that even though there is no cause for alarm over the latest aid freezes by sections of the donor community, it is a wake up call.
