As the Rwandese Patriotic Front-Inkotanyi (RPF) gear up for the 25th anniversary, party members in Gasabo district have vowed to see to it that the electoral party manifesto is implemented to the fullest. Addressing the media in Kimironko, Willy Ndizeye, the Gasabo mayor who also doubles as RPF district chairman, said though much has been achieved there is still more to do in terms of governance, wealth creation, justice and improvement of social welfare. "The RPF is the engine of this country and all our activities are in line with the party’s line of progressive action. Today, as we celebrate 25 years, we are looking at where we have come from and what we have achieved, especially in our district of Gasabo.”Speaking to The New Times, the party’s district Social Affairs Commissioner, Louise Uwimana, said that they will ensure that the party election manifesto is accomplished."We plan to ensure that the President’s pledges are met, in our district, by 2017,” she said."We achieved some but there is still a long way to go to ensure that it’s achieved 100%.” Ndizeye said the party has achieved much, in the district. He said all achievements are based on four government pillars including building the economy, promoting justice and good governance."We worked hard to improve service delivery. In the past, a citizen would come all the way from upcountry, for example, to the ministry for a particular service, but this, surely is no more. Many structures have been set up within the local administrative framework and within the RPF as well to really help people,” she observed. "In the economic perspective too, much was registered. In Gasabo district, RPF members contributed much in infrastructure, environment protection, poverty alleviation, and many other areas. In housing, there is a big difference because we now have the best organised housing estates. All these are initiatives of the party,” Uwimana said.
