A park warden attached to the Volcanoes National Park in Musanze District was killed and another wounded in the latest attack by DR Congo-based Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), park and military officials said yesterday. The deceased was identified as Esdras Nsengiyumva. This is the second attack on Rwanda in less than a week by the remnants of an army and militia group blamed for the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, which claimed more than a million lives. The rebels last Tuesday launched an attack on two villages in Rubavu, Western Province, and left at least one civilian dead.Prosper Uwingeri, the Chief Park Warden, said the deceased was an employee of the Karisoke Research Centre, and was in the company of colleagues from the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International.Rwanda’s Defence and Military Spokesperson Brig.
