WomenAPR 3-0 RwamaganaRRA 3-2 RuhangoAPR will play the National University of Rwanda in the men’s final of the inaugural Malaria volleyball tournament scheduled for December 8 at Amahoro indoor stadium courts.In the semi-finals played on Saturday in Ngoma District, NUR beat Institute of Agriculture, Technology and Education of Kibungo (INATEK) 3-0, while APR overcame archrivals KVC 3 sets to nil.The National University of Rwanda team will go into the final clash seeking revenge for losing the final of this year’s Carre d’As 3-1 against the army side, which also won the national league.In the women category, APR thrashed Rwamagana 3-0 to set up a final clash against Ruhango Volleyball Club, which shocked league champions Rwanda Revenue Authority 3-2. NUR coach Fidele ‘Fidjo’ Nyirimana said that his target was to win the Malaria tournament and makeup for missing out on both the league and Carre d’As cup last season."Our goal is to win this tournament because we came so close in both the league and Carre d’As last season. Winning the Malaria Cup will be a fitting climax to what has been a disappointing year for us,” he said. Imbuto Foundation pumped Rwf17m in the touranment. The phases of group stages were held in Nyanza, Bugesera and Rubavu, while semi finals were held in Ngoma and the finals will be played in Gasabo District next week.
