RWANDAN graduates should compete in the international labour market, the Executive Director of National Council for High Education Professor Geoffrey Rugege has said.Rugege made the remarks at the second graduation of Kigali Institute of Management (KIM) yesterday. Atleast 286 graduates were awarded degrees and diplomas in management."You will find jobs in Kenya, Tanzania and other parts of the world…you should be able to compete with others who are trained in other countries,’’ Rugege told the graduates. He also encouraged them to be efficient at whatever they will do in the employment world. Rugege who spoke on behalf of the Minister of Education congratulated the graduates.The graduates were from the faculties of Business Management, majoring in Accounting and Finance.The KIM chairman Board of Directors Peter Rutaremara said the ceremony was a testimony of the graduates’ hard work, commitment and passion."This is a result of the students’ own relentless effort to excel as well as the rigour with which the management and staff, professors and lecturers have worked to ensure that they are tested and found worthy of the award,’’ said Rutaremara.He also encouraged the graduates to act as agents of change."This is the beginning of a long journey. Go out there and hold people’s hands with your skills and knowledge and together move your community and organisations to another level. Serve all people with the humility, passion and dedication,’’ he advised.The Rector of KIM Professor O. Odunga said the graduates were well prepared for the job market."You have won the first battle; a battle that is symbolic of where you are going: the world out there is demanding and competitive world,’’ he said.KIM started operations in 2003 to provide opportunities for learning and professional advancement in management disciplines. It started as International College of Accountancy and Management (ICAM) and in 2005 changed to Kigali Institute of Management.KIM was granted permanent accreditation status in 2011 the same year it held its first graduation ceremony.
