THE National Volleyball Federation have retaliated their desire of working with former national team coach Paulo de Tarsio.Speaking to Timesport, the interim federation chairman, Philbert Mutwarasibo, confirmed that talks are ongoing and the Brazilian is expected to be confirmed as the national team coach next year. "We are still in talks and hope to reach an agreement soon,” he said. Among other achievements, Tarsio is credited for guiding the national junior team to 4th place in last year’s CAVB Africa Junior Championship in Libya. Paulo de Tarsio has also expressed interest to work with the team again. The Brazilian was in charge of the national team for one year, in 2010, but Rwanda Volleyball Federation didn’t renew his contract and he signed for Sao Caetano in his native Brazil.Paulo was instrumental in national team captain Christopher Mukunzi and Vincent Dusabimana ‘Gasongo’ joining Qatari first division clubs. Gasongo signed for An-Aghallfa Sports Club, while Mukunzi signed for Al-Arabi Sports Club recently for undisclosed fee.The pair has been plying their trade in the Algerian first division league for the last two seasons. Former Rwanda National University star Gasongo has been playing for Etoile Sportive de Setif while former Kigali Volleyball player Mukunzi was with USM Alger."We need him back in national team but we have other coaches who have applied for the job but we will choose among them who can be good for us next year but Paulo is good coach and by next year we will announce the new national team coach” Mutwarasibo said. The national team is currently handled by Paul Bitok.
