In 2020, a new wave of sounds produced by the young generation in Rwanda took the airwaves by storm and brought the Rwandan music industry into focus.

Among them is Logan Joe, a member of Loud Sound Music, a movement of mainly young artistes who came to the limelight during covid-19 pandemic, after producing Rwanda Rw’ejo 1 album.

At this point two years ago, Logan Joe was taking the industry by storm with his breakthrough track dubbed ‘Tricky’, which was produced in the Drill genre that had just started getting recognition in the local music scene.

The release of his number one hit song to date, ‘Whatever’, barely two months after Tricky, presented Logan Joe in a manner so assured, it seemed he had always been part of the mainstream.

In a recent interview with The New Times, the young musician said that the best of his music career is yet to come out, starting from ‘Summer Lovin’ EP that is produced in a whole new sound different from the old Logan Joe.

The first track on the EP, dubbed Paris, is already out and was premiered a month before the official release date of the EP to put music lovers in the mood of new music, Logan Joe said.

"I decided to release 'Paris' to give my fans a taste of what’s in the upcoming project and they are really vibing it in numbers. The rest on the EP is crazy,” Logan Joe told The New Times.

Another thing, he said, the upcoming EP is about summer vibes and everything that can make people feel good and alive through music.

"The EP is about summer vibes and love, but more so about dancing. This time I tried going out of what I’ve been doing, and jumped on different genres like Amapiano and Afrobeats,” he said, adding that the EP only features Kenny K-shot.

Upcountry tour

After dropping ‘Summer Lovin’, Logan Joe unveiled plans of doing his first local tour that will reach most parts of the country.

Speaking to The New Times, he said, "after dropping the EP in August, I’m going on a tour in different parts of the country for the first time. I feel like I have a lot of fans in different provinces of Rwanda that I should meet.”

It will be Logan Joe’s first tour since he ventured in the business of making music in 2019.

‘Summer Lovin’ follows Risk (EP) and Kibonumwe (EP) released last year.
