NINETY aspiring models are set to compete in this year’s edition of Rwanda’s Premier Model. The winners stand to win a prize package consisting of cash, luxury prizes and the title of Rwanda’s premier model. Under the theme, Professional models that exhibit virtue, the main objective of this competition is to promote models and the industry in Rwanda."We are marketing the models to show other countries that Rwanda has something to offer the world in this industry,” said Jean Claude Ndayishimiye, CEO of Premier Model Agency which is organising the show.Registration for the first edition of the competition ended on November 24 at Amahoro Stadium, with 90 entrants (50 female models and 40 male models).The massive response forced organisers to tighten the selection process.The training is expected to start in two weeks’ time. Forty contestants will be selected to enter into the pre-selection phase before 24 are sieved out for the final show slated for December 28 at the Expo Grounds in Gikondo, Kigali.The trainers include Ndayishimiye and Irene Rwizihirangabo, an experienced model who has been in the field for over 12 years, as well as Aime Shema.The competition will feature various activities, including trainings, auditions and fitness. Contestants will also be trained on how to pose for photos by Canadian professional photographer.Premier Model Agency was founded in 2009 by local model Ndayishimiye, with the purpose to give aspiring models hope and exposure on a national level.It is a reputable local agency that works to nurture and develop both aspiring female and male models.
