Editor,While I don't want to the sound an M23 rebel supporter, I don't think withdrawing from Goma is the pressing need the Congolese people want to see. Let us first ask ourselves one question; why did the rebels take up arms against the                                                                                                                  Kinshasa government? I have heard that one of the reasons why they mutinied is the fact that the government of President Joseph Kabila refused to implement the agreement reached between rebels and government in March, 23, 2009.In my opinion, Kabila is not willing to discuss with the rebels openly. In Kampala, he promised to look into the grievances of the rebels yet earlier on, his government had stated that they would never negotiate with the rebels. May be Kabila has changed his position because the rebels have captured more towns. Congolese people will continue to suffer.Teta, Nyagatare ************************************************Editor,Its a pity to hear that the President of DRC is now willing to look into the demands of the rebels after the damage or death of innocent Congolese as a result of fighting in Congo. Didn’t Kinshasa government know that people were going to suffer since the government army cannot do its job? I have never seen an undisciplined army like that of DRC. The other day, I read in the papers that Kabila's top army officer was suspended because he was selling guns to rebels instead of fighting them!. This army is unserious.Fred, Gisenyi (Response to the story titled ‘M23 rebels given 48 hrs to leave Goma’ published on Sunday, November 25)
