Shere Sardar is an Indian restaurant, one of the three restaurants found at The Manor Hotel, a 5-star hotel located in the posh neighbourhood of Nyarutarama. The hotel is situated in the foothills of Nyaraturama and Shere Sadar is positioned on the top floor, stealing a fascinating view of Kigali City in a very ambient setting.Joseph, the manager, dressed in Indian outfit, was very friendly and happy to take us through the whole menu, explaining every recipe and how long it takes to prepare it.With his approach – people especially those who want to taste Indian food for the first time – feel comfortable with this guy’s local touch. At Rwf6,500 for a plate of Subzitaka-tin (deep fried crispy vegetable roundles delicately mixed with sweet pepper, onion and spice) makes Shere Sardar one of the most pocket-friendly Indian restaurants in the land.On my visit I tried out one of the most expensive dishes on the carte du jour, the famed  Jhinga Mastaledar, prepared from fresh king-size prawns cooked with lots of garlic onions, tomatoes, roasted cumin seed powder and garam masala.A young couple I shared a table with was devouring Biriani – rice cooked with herbs and spices with omelet and tomatoes, served with curry sauce. They seemed to enjoy every forkful! Vindaloo, Bhunna and Murg-e-malai are some of the other interesting dishes on the menu you should check out.It gets a little cold here late at a night, so carrying a jacket or sweater would be a wise idea.
