Kivu Fest fans were thrilled when Bruce Intore, the brain behind the highly anticipated annual event, announced the dates for the concert. Known as one of the most memorable beach parties in the country, the festival draws revelers from various regions. This year, the event will take place on July 1 and 2 in Rubavu District.
In an interview with The New Times, Patrick Ishimwe, a diehard fan of the show, expressed his excitement about what the organisers have in store for their audience. Ishimwe noted that the past events were truly captivating and that he has even higher expectations for the upcoming one.
"I am excitedly anticipating an electrifying experience,” he said.
Zawadi Gikundiro, along with her friends, has eagerly awaited this moment, and now it has finally arrived. She said adding that "we are excitedly anticipating the details of the upcoming event”.
In the meantime, Gikundiro pointed out that they have begun searching for accommodations during that period saying that finding a place to stay might be challenging, as the event coincides with several public holidays, which are bound to attract a large number of visitors.
Intore, who organises Kivu Fest, announced the dates of the event through his official Twitter account. However, he has not yet disclosed further details such as the headline artists and other related information.
"Kivu Fest 1st & 2nd July !! More info to come,” reads part of his tweet.
The concert comes as Rwanda continues to host significant gatherings, conferences, festivals, and summits including the recently concluded Basketball African League (BAL).
Last year’s edition happened after an almost three-year break due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and was headlined by South African rapper, the late Costa Titch, whose song ‘Big Flexa’ was trending as hit number one on Billboard Africa.
In a past Interview with The New Times, Intore pointed out that they realised that many concerts are held in Kigali, and decided to take this one upcountry so that residents and tourists in different parts of the country could benefit from the entertainment industry.
"Kivu Fest takes place in July to allow tourists who are in Rwanda for the summer holiday to experience a beach party in the land of a thousand hills,” he said.
The event is also to promote a culture of leaving Kigali and relaxing out of town for the city residents.
"When you go out of town and enjoy yourself responsibly, you come back refreshed. This is to allow our Kigalians to travel and enjoy good music,” he explains.
