The National Paralympics Committee has organized a three-day inaugural edition of the inclusive education tournament for the blind which started yesterday and will climax tomorrow at Remera Gymnasium.

The tournament has attracted eight male teams to contest in the goal ball sport designed for the blind personalities only.

The tournament has been sponsored by the Handicap International and Kigali Institute of Education in collaboration with the National Paralympics Committee.

The National Paralympics Committee Technical Director, Erie Manirarora said yesterday the three day has been organized in respect to the national policy on all inclusive education.

"The aim of the event is to have all players of the same discipline compete in one tournament as part of developing and testing them all together,” Manirarora said, adding that the tournament will be held annually.

However, Manirarora added that, due to low numbers of female teams, measures have been drawn to enable their participation in next year’s edition.

Confirmed clubs that are participating in this tournament have been drawn into two pools, namely; Pool A (Nyarugenge, Gahini, ASCEPJNV, KIE) while Pool B comprises of Rwamagana, Huye, Masaka, Abadahigwa. Action resumes today and winners will be awarded with prizes.
