Fritz declared fit, Mutuyimana out

South Africa Premiership side Super sport United’s Fikru Tefera will sit out this weekend’s 2010 Africa/World Cup qualifier when his, Ethiopia hosts Rwanda in Addis on Sunday.

Top striker and skipper Tefera is suspended for the fixture after being sent off in the weekend’s 3-0 loss to Morocco. Tefera has already proved himself against Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars in the recent games that the two teams have faced each other.

He caused all sorts of problems for the Rwandan defence during the 2005 Cecafa Challenge Cup in Kigali when the four-time Cecafa champions defeated their hosts 1-0 in the final.

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s team doctor Musa Hakizimana has confirmed that defender Fritz Emeran Nkusi has fully recovered from his calf injury sustained last week during training ahead of the game against Mauritania.

"He has recovered and fit to play. The training sessions have proved it and personally does not have any problem,” Hakizimana said.

However, Amavubi third choice custodian Evaliste Mutuyimana has got an infection on his left finger which has ruled him out of the game against Ethiopia on Saturday.

In a related development, Hakizimana has ruled out fears that influential defender Hamad Ndikumana and Mutesa Mafisango will miss the game.

"They have only sustained minor injuries which can’t deny them training with the team,” Hakizimana said, adding that both Ndikumana and Mafisango got a knock on ankle and shin respectively.
