Huawei launches ‘ICT Star’ program for Tanzania education

Huawei Technologies Tanzania Co. Ltd, a leading information and communication technology solutions provider, launched on Thursday an Information Communication Technology (ICT) education program that will foster ICT development and ICT talent training in Tanzania.Speaking at the press conference, the Huawei Tanzania Managing Director, Bruce Zhang said the program will be known as "Huawei ICT Star program for Tanzania Education,” which will support primary and secondary schools, as well as universities, to develop ICT interests. According to the program, for the primary and secondary schools, it will contribute in improving the learning infrastructures that provide a better learning environment for the students in their early stage. The Tanzanian Minister for Communications, Science and Technology, Makame Mbarawa, said the program will enable young people in Tanzania to grasp ICT at tender age and be able to contribute towards the country’s economic growth. For universities, Huawei is going to set up "Huawei ICT Star” scholarship, providing specific free packages of ICT training to excellent students in Huawei Africa Training Centers. "The Tanzania Development Vision of 2025 envisages a nation filled with well educated and learning society as well as a strong and competitive economy capable of producing sustainable growth and shared benefits.
