RWAMAGANA-Two nursing students from Rwamagana School of Nursing and Midwifery will this week depart for India for a month long training with Fortis Health Care Group in Mumbai.The two students; Claudine Balahali Kabeza and Justine Bagirisano in the company of the school principal Sr. Epiphanie Mukabaranga, will be stationed at 350 bed Fortis Hospital, Mulund. The training will focus on the latest developments in medical science , health care and hospital management."To mark the Golden Jubilee of the Rwamagana School of Nursing and Midwifery, we have facilitated this training programme and do believe that these young and outstanding nurses would benefit immensely from this visit "Clarence Fernandes, India Representative, Rwanda Development Board said in a statement received to The New Times."If this pilot project is a success, we shall look forward to having more such programmes, in the near future, to improve the quality of health care and nursing in Rwanda,” added Fernandes.The Director of Rwamagana School of Nursing and Midwifery, Sister Epiphanie Mukabaranga told The New Times yesterday that the opportunity given to school staff was a sign of recognition for the excellent performance the school has had for the last 50 years."We were awarded the course after celebrating our 50th Jubilee…it is all about excellent work our school has done in educating nurses. The two teachers, who will accompany me, were our former students that excelled before they were enrolled as teachers,” she said."The one-month training in the Indian hospital will be an exposure to give us more experience…the nurses will get hospital experience, essential for our work as teachers of a nursing school.”
