Rwandan High Commission to host business forum in Kampala

In order to enhance business partnerships between Rwanda and Uganda, the Rwandan High Commission in Kampala has organised a business forum to explore opportunities within the two countries.

In order to enhance business partnerships between Rwanda and Uganda, the Rwandan High Commission in Kampala has organised a business forum to explore opportunities within the two countries.The forum, under the theme; ‘Expanding business opportunities beyond borders’, is slated for late November in Kampala, Uganda.It is expected to draw hundreds of members of the business community and private sector players from Uganda and Rwanda.Uganda’s Minister for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Amelia Kyambadde and her Rwandan counterpart, Francois Kanimba are expected to grace the meeting. The High Commissioner in Uganda, Frank Mugambage, said the forum was an opportunity to actualize the objectives of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) between the two countries established to facilitate stronger bilateral economic and other linkages.  "The market is increasingly becoming the same and we need those joint efforts in trying to fill some of the gaps that are at times taken up by people from very far when our people could have jointly engaged in these ventures,” Mugambage told The New Times yesterday.The acting CEO of Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Clare Akamanzi, is expected to make a keynote presentation on ‘Advancing Investment and Business opportunities in Rwanda.’Olive Kigongo, the President, Uganda National Chamber of Commerce & Industry, will also make a presentation on advancing Investment and Business opportunities in Uganda."At the forum, all explanations will be made and all questions will be answered so that the private sector can fully exploit opportunities in all the business sectors,” said Mugambage.The forum’s panel of discussion will include; Patrick Bitature, Chairman of Uganda Investment Authority, Allen Kagina, the Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority, Hannington Namara, the CEO Private Sector Federation Rwanda, and Ben Bahizi Kagarama, Commissioner General Rwanda Revenue Authority, among others.The business forum is expected to run annually and eventually become a biannual event that will keep alternating between the two countries.
