TWO Rwandan referees Louis Hakizimana and Ambroise Hakizimana have been named among 16 match officials, who will officiate at this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup tournament which kicks off on November 24 in Kampala.
TWO Rwandan referees Louis Hakizimana and Ambroise Hakizimana have been named among 16 match officials, who will officiate at this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup tournament which kicks off on November 24 in Kampala.According to Cecafa, the officials, eight of whom are assistant referees, will undergo both medical and fitness tests on November 23.The fitness tests will be conducted by retired FIFA referee Charles Masembe, who is also a member of the CAF Referees committee. The full list of referees: Thierry Nkurunzinza (Burundi), Maeruf Mensur (Eritrea), Antony Ogwayo (Kenya), Hakizimana Louis (Rwanda), Ali Kalyango (Uganda), Mohamed Hussein El Fadhil (Sudan), Denis Batte (Uganda) and Israel Mujuni (Tanzania).Assistant referees: Mark Ssonko (Uganda), Mussie Kinde (Ethiopia), Peter Sabatia (Kenya), Idam Mohammed (Sudan), Hakizimana Ambroise (Rwanda), Kinduli Ali (Zanzibar), Clemence Erasmo (Tanzania) and Omar Abukar (Somalia).The tournament, which is sponsored by East African Breweries through their Tusker brand to a tune of US$450,000, will see South Sudan participate in their first international football competition.
