As part of Goethe Institut’s Literary Summit this November, the artistic agency has invited Linda Gabriel, one of Zimbabwe’s leading female poets to share skills and perform in a presentation dubbed "The humanity in all of us always triumphs.” Linda, who arrived in Kigali by bus from Harare on November 5, to launch her poetic umbrella to impressions and inspirations from the ‘Land of a Thousands Hills', will share her rich poetic experience and sensation with writers, journalists, poets and all poetry lovers that evening. The Norton-born poetess, 27, has been writing and performing poetry from an early age. Linda loves to write about day-to-day realities: injustices, love, gender issues and life in general. Her work was influenced by several Zimbabwean authors including ‘Victor Mavedzenge’, ‘Virginia Phiri’, ‘Ignatius Mabasa’, and ‘Oscar Gwririri’, but she listened as well to renowned international poets like ‘Linton Kwesi Johnson’ and ‘Samantha Raheem Thornhill’. Talking about the role of poets in our society Linda says; "I like calling them voices for the voiceless. True poets talk about all issues.”  Linda will perform at the Goethe-Institut’s grand studio in Kacyiru, Kigali on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Entrance is free.
