JABA Junior, a Kigali-based dance group proved they are the stars to watch as they wowed judges at the opening of the dance and singing competition dubbed, Dundastar last Saturday. The show started at 10 a.m at Papyrus Restaurant in Kimihurura, with Nelson Ayebazibwe and Chris Ngendahayo as curtain raisers. Carine Malia Uwamahoro, the only female vocalist taking part in the search competition, performed before the Jaba Junior group came on stage.  Jaba Junior– a group of 10 young boys and girls put all their efforts into the competition and were thrilled to see their hard work pay off.The boys emerged on stage and danced for over 20 minutes before the girls could join them. The energy was so consuming that judges —Washington, one of East Africa’s leading music producers, KFM’s Cynthia Umurungi and CFM’s Makeda Mahadeo, among others couldn’t stop admiring the teenagers. The contestants put up an array of talent, ranging from singing to dancing.Dundastar is a search for Rwanda’s next super talent, singer and dancer. In this search, contestants will be required to sing songs of their choice without music or instrumental accompaniment, while dancers will dance to the tunes or music that will be determined by the Dundastar judges."The aim is to promote young talent. Among other prizes, winners in the singing category will have a chance to produce their music while dancers will be linked to famous dancing groups,” said Uganda’s famous producer Washington, who is also among the judges in the competition.   The next performance will take place on Saturday, November 17 at Sports Club in Kigali before heading to Rainbow Hotel in Kicukiro on November 24.During these shows, the Dundastar judges will be evaluating the skills and potential of contestants to compete in the final auditions.
