FANS who turned up at Amahoro stadium’s parking lot last Saturday evening for the Dream Boys’ concert got impatient after waiting for almost two hours without the show starting.Gates were open as early as 4 p.m but the main performances started at 8:30 p.m. The concert was expected to be one of the biggest and most anticipated album launches ever done in the country, but did not live up to this expectation.However, despite the starting late and few people turning up, artistes put up a spirited show for those who attended.Trezzor, a Kigali-based band was the first on stage and kept the audience entertained with local and foreign renditions. The all-male band exuded a genuine likability and unforced charm that flattens any barriers between them and the audience –their style of music bridges generational gaps.B-Gun, Young Grace, Benzo, Samusure, Knowless, Uncle Austin, Bruce Melody, Bull Dogg, TBB and Allioni, started off the performances but it was Eric Senderi who got the show hyped up with his energetic stage performance. The singer, better known by his stage name Senderi International Hit, belted out a number of songs including, Zahabu-but his ultimate crowd puller was his latest Hip-hop track, Mukibuga, which got everyone so crazy that when he abruptly got off stage, some of his fans shouted: "We want more.”Rapper Jay Polly knows how to get a party started and he was also the star attraction during Dream Boys’ concert. After his famous hits, the Mwami uganje star announced his album launch slated for next month.Apart from the exciting performances, the show was warmed up by disc master DJ Bisoso alongside Mcees Arthur and Gistave.Clad in blue and white attire, Dream Boys emerged on stage at 10:45pm and fired up the cold night with their popular hits as the fans screamed ecstatically.Their line up began with songs like Uzambarize Mama, Narashatse and Isano, among others and wrapped up with No one like me, to people’s satisfaction.The group’s dancers also thrilled the crowd with their well-choreographed dances.All artistes performed exceptionally well and the crowd grooved and sang along. This only proves that Rwandans are beginning to appreciate the local music."I’m overjoyed by the support for our album,” reveals TMC. "We aimed to bring our local fans a good taste of music at the launch and it was well-received.”"The launch was a wonderful opportunity to experience smooth crooner Makanyaga and his band perform the best of their catalog on stage,” says Jean Claude Uwimana, one of the fans at the concert.Dream Boys’ album launch concert started on November 8 at the National University of Rwanda in Huye and concluded Saturday in Kigali. The gigs were sponsored by Banque Populaire du Rwanda, Tigo, BRALIRWA and Ministry of Culture and Sports, among others.
