Charity begins at home, so they say. That is why, in a bid to capture the local market, upcoming singer Malia Carine Uwamahoro has decided to start singing in Kinyarwanda, her mother tongue. The singer, who has hitherto been singing in English, recently released a song in Kinyarwanda. And this seems to have paid off, seeing that her latest single Udushagarira is doing quite well on the local scene. The Business Administration graduate from the Unversity of Montreal in Canada says although people love the songs she has done in English, Udushagarira has made her more popular. One of Uwamahoro’s most popular singles, Home Sweet Homes was inspired by the progress she realized in the country on her arrival from Canada last year. "I realised that what I knew about Kigali (while in Canada) was totally different from what I found on ground. So, I decided to shoot this video (clip) at night, to prove to the rest of the world that Kigali does not only shine during the day, but also at night,” she says.Uwamahoro also reveals that she is currently working on her maiden album, which she hopes to unveil officially some time next year.
