Innocent Seninga's two-year stay with Sunrise FC came to an end on Monday, June 12 after he was relieved of duties due to poor performances.
The club management, officials from main sponsor Nyagatare District and other stakeholders held a meeting on Saturday June 10, to evaluate how the just-concluded season went down and set out plans for the coming 2023/24 season.
It was agreed during the meeting that Seninga had to be sacked after he failed to achieve a top 7 finish as he vowed before the season.
Coaches are hired to be fired and Seninga knows that. This is not the first time he has been dismissed by a topfligh club, having previously been fired by Police FC and Musanze reactively.
At Sunrise, he started brightly by qualifying the team back to the Premier League but things turned bad as he was suspended in mid-season for poor output. He also had surgery and it was his deputy who steered the club to relegation safety.
Despite his contract being officially terminated, Seninga could have a shot at one of the biggest teams in the league.
Times Sport understands that AS Kigali are on the verge of sacking Andre Casa Mbungo and could turn to Seninga as a candidate for the hot seat.
Also, a host of the second division clubs including Gicumbi could swoop for him after securing a ticket back to the elite league.
Seninga has a variety of options but so far, AS Kigali looks to be the most appetizing one.
