PREPARATIONS for Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) 25th anniversary have picked more momentum as local musicians join the campaign to spice up preparations for the historical event.Jean-Paul Samputu, who released two congratulatory songs, RPF Ganza and Imigabo nimigambi ya FPR, last week, leads the queue of musicians in this campaign. Samputu’s tracks are enjoying massive airplay on most of the radio stations in the country."The songs are in recognition of what government has achieved in the development of the country especially in fighting poverty,” Samputu said. Imigabo n’imigambi ya FPR features three singers Intore Masamba, Mani Martin and Patrick Nyamitari.Speaking at a press conference at RPF headquarters in Kigali on Friday, Samputu said the two songs have a message to the public about what exactly RPF has done in development of the country. The songs call for unity, love and peace amongst Rwandans to work together as one people."These songs are gifts to RPF, but it comes at a time when the world is seeing the transformations that we are undergoing,” he said. He added that since anniversary celebrations are due, the songs will be an inspiration to the population.The 50-year-old hit maker distributed free CDs to RPF officials and journalists. At the same event, Intore Masamba revealed that he was working on a new song, Intego n’imigambi by’umuryango FPR–Inkotanyi, a tribute to the country’s ruling party-RPF.Masamba promised that before the anniversary, various artistes would come together to work on another song. The team leader of entertainment at RPF, Jane Gakuba, commended the artistes’ initiative.Gakuba said that RPF would be using music to celebrate what the country has achieved. The RPF anniversary will be marked under the theme: Governance, prosperity and dignity for our people.
