June 8

Ethiopia    v   Rwanda

Mauritania v   Morocco

National soccer team doctor Musa Hakizimana has confirmed that defender Fritz Emeran Nkusi could recover in time for Rwanda’s next qualifier.

The Amavubi Stars take on Ethiopia in Addis Ababa in the 2010 Fifa/CAN group eight second qualifier on Sunday.

"He damaged his Gastrocnemius which is the big muscle at the back of the lower part of the leg but he will be fit to train by mid this week,” Hakizimana said.

According to Hakizimana, more good news is that there are no more injuries for Blanko Tucak to worry about as he bids to make it two wins in a row.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Ethiopia game continue to and until Friday, a day before the teams flies out to Addis for Sunday’s game.

Amavubi Stars, who started their campaign by walloping Mauritania 3-0 last Saturday and a win or draw in Addis would keep alive their hopes of qualifying from this group.

Ethiopia will be without their top striker and skipper Fikru Tefera who is suspended for the fixture after he was sent off in the 3-0 loss to Morocco.

Tefera, who features for South Africa premier league club, Super sport united is one of the strikers who caused al sorts of problems for Amavubi defence during the 2005 Cecafa Challenge Cup in Kigali. The four-time Cecafa champions defeated Rwanda 1-0 in the final.

Rwanda and Morocco are tied on top of group eight table with three points each while Ethiopia and Mauritania are pointless.

Skipper Olivier Karekezi, Said Abedi Makasi and Bokota Labama Kamana scored for Amavubi Stars while Abdessalam Benjelloun and Hicham Aboucharouane’s brace was enough for the Atlas Lions to start on a promising note.
