Kagarama SS win schools’ cricket title

KAGARAMA secondary school won this year’s schools cricket boys’ title after defeating Remere Giporoso in the final played on Sunday at Kicukiro oval. IPRC Kicukiro claimed the girls’ title.

KAGARAMA secondary school won this year’s schools cricket boys’ title after defeating Remere Giporoso in the final played on Sunday at Kicukiro oval. IPRC Kicukiro claimed the girls’ title.Remera’s Giporoso batted first and made 60 all out and Kagarama reached that target with a loss of two wickets and two overs. Kagarama’s Bosco Tuyizere was man of the match.However, Kagarama’s hopes of double celebration were hampered after their girls team lost in the final to IPRC Kicukiro by nine wickets. Kagarama were bowled out for 85 and IPRC Kicukiro reached 86 for the loss of one wicket. Veronica Iriho of IPRC Kicukiro was player of the match.Iriho was also named the tournament’s best player; Mary Maina of Apred Ndera was the tournament’s best bowler, while Kagarama SS’s Betty Mukunzi was top scorer.In the boy’s category, Kagarama secured the overall individual honours with Theogene Gatera earning the best bowler award; Tuyizere was the best batsman while Bryson Bugingo was player of the tournament.The tournament which was sponsored by the Ministry of Education to a tune of Rwf2million, attracted six schools namely; Kagarama SS, Apred Ndera, Remera Giporoso, IPRC Kicukiro, Lycée de Kigali and Efotec Kanombe.
