MUSANZE — The Governor of the Northern Province, Boniface Rucagu, has said that ethnic groups should cease to be a source of conflicts and divisions in modern times in Africa.

Rucagu was last week speaking during the launch of anti Genocide Club at Lycee Ruhengeri-APICUR, Musanze. He was named as one of the patrons of the club representing parents.

While presenting the root causes of genocide ideology and its effects, Rucagu blamed Rwanda’s past elders and politicians for ruining the country to achieve their own interests.

"Schools are civic centres (itorero) where vision and discipline should be taught to the youth in order to prepare future generations in becoming productive leaders,’’ Rucagu said.

According to a new policy, all schools are required to form anti genocide clubs to stamp out genocide ideology which has been sweeping through schools.

The first school in Muhoza Sector to establish the club appointed the head master Justin Ndayambaje as the president. Two students were also included, executive secretary of the cell, and two parents were all appointed as executive members of the club.
