Nineteen clubs have confirmed participation in the second national swimming championship scheduled for November 24 at Bambino Super City in Kabuga.The national swimming federation chairman, Samuel Ufitimana Kinimba, said yesterday, "The championship will see individual swimmers battling it out for honours. The objective is to raise the level of competition among our swimmers”. Clubs expected to grace the one-day event include, Riviera High school, Les Gramma Swimming Club, Cool water Swimming Club ‘Indengamivumba”, Les Dauphins Swimming Club, Town Swimming Club, National University, National Bank and Green Hills.Others are Association de notation de Gisenyi (ANAGI), Groupe Scolaire Officiel de Butare, Celcre Sportif, Zenith ( Karongi), Sake, Muhazi(CONAPELAM), Ruhondo, Mugesera, Cyangugu, Club de Natation de l’Ecole Française and RILIMA. The championship will help the local federation select two swimmers to compete in the 11 FINA Short Course Swimming World Championships will be held in Istanbul, Turkey from December 12-16, 2012.The FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) is a five-day competition held every two years, where the world comes to witness record-breaking feats and action-packed races, with swimming stars from all continents.
