Mexican soap opera, Curse by the Sea, stars hunky Mario Cimarro of the Second Chance fame as Victor Manuel Galindez, Zuria Vega as Estrella and Manuel Landeta as Leon Parra-Ibanez.When Estrella learns how to read, she falls in love with the famous writer, Victor Manuel Galindez. Little did she know that her fantasy will soon be reality. They meet when Victor Manuel’s boat crashes into Estrella‘s boat while she is at sea. With most parts of the soap opera acted at sea, the theme of the story portrays how life is like the sea, full of danger and evil. It also portrays how far people will go to fight for the love of their life despite malicious and evil people; how people fight for the place they have considered home for generations and will not allow civilization to destroy that.Leon Parra-Ibanez, a wealthy but selfish man wants to build a hotel complex on a village of Playa Escondida to carry out his plans, he wants to have the town cleared and all the fishermen and mongers are asked to leave.  Unfortunately, the land belongs to Victor Manuel and he can’t just sell it to a man who wants to evict the people he considers family and friends. Leon convinces his selfish and evil daughter Oriana (Mariana Seoane) to seduce Victor Manuel and convince him to sell the land to him thus end up plotting to tarnish Estella’s image given the relationship with Victor Manuel.  But will they be able to outsmart the strong love that glows in Victor Manuel and Estella’s eyes?Curse by the Sea, is currently aired on Star Times’ STVE on weekdays from 9pm to 11pm.
