The body of former Managing Director of the Rwanda Development Bank (BRD) Theogene Turatsinze arrived in Kigali yesterday.
Turatsinze was last week found murdered in Maputo, Mozambique two days after he went missing.
Rwanda condemned the murder and demanded that the government of Mozambique conducts investigations and bring to book those responsible.
There was a major outpour of emotions from family and friends of late Turatsinze as they received the deceased’s body at Kigali International Airport.
Among those at the airport included the vice president of the Senate Bernard Makuza.
Turatshinze is remembered as an ardent sportsman.
He hosted the Rwandan volleyball team at a dinner gala in Mozambique and also accompanied the Rwanda National Team to the U-17 world cup.
Rwanda’s High Commissioner to South Africa Vincent Karega told the press last week that the motive behind the killing could have been ‘kidnap but no one tried to ask for a ransom until his body was discovered’ tied by ropes and floating in a lake.
Turatsinze was an accomplished businessman and a vice Chancellor at a private university in Maputo.
A requiem mass will tomorrow be held at Regina Pacis in Remera ahead of the burial at Rusororo.
