SIX-TIME league champions Rayon Sport have offered French coach Didier Gomes da Rosa a one-year renewable contract, and his main task will be to win some silverware by season end.The Blues’ chairman Abdallah Murenzi, who also doubles as the Mayor Nyanza District, told Times Sport yesterday, "We have finally agreed terms with Gomes.” "We have offered him a one-year (renewable) contract with a mission of winning either the league or Peace Cup at the end of the season,” added Murenzi.According to Murenzi, Gomes was not given any sign-on fee but the Frenchman, who is expected to start working with his new players today in Nyanza, will be earning $1900 (Rwf1, 178,000) as monthly salary. Gomes beat off competition from three other coaches, who had been shortlisted for the job, namely; former coach DRC’s Raoul Shungu, Uganda’s Sam Timbe and Burundian Cedric Kaze.The 41-year old was previously linked to Amavubi Stars but was beaten to the job by Serbian Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojovic in 2011. He was also linked to Mukura last season.He has previously managed different lower division clubs in France, including US Cagnes sur Mer, Etoile de Fos Sur mer, AS Roquebrune Cap Martin, FC Antibes and a Technical Supervision Training Course Brittany Football as Technical Director.Gomes takes over a club which has not won any major silverware in the past six seasons. The club, which had a poor start to the season, has been fighting hard to find a replacement for Jean Marie Ntagwabira, who resigned at the end of last season.Prior to Sunday’s match – day five of the Primus national league – Rayon suffered three consecutive defeats against; Amagaju (1-2), AS Kigali (1-3) and La Jeunesse (0-1). They secured their first victory (1-0) of the season a fortnight ago against Marines and made it two wins a row with a well deserved 2-0 victory over rivals Police FC on Sunday.Last season, they finished sixth in the 12 team national league.
