RWANDA Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) has decided to terminate their contract with the national team head coach Nenad Amanovic after he failed to guide the country to success in this year’s Fiba Africa junior basketball championship. The federation’s club secretary Richard Mutabazi said on Thursday that Amanovic never performed as agreed before he took office early this year."Before terminating his contract, we sat with him and brought to his attention that he had failed to accomplish his task regarding the U-18 team, which finished last in the Africa championship,” Mutabazi told Times Sport. He added, "This time we want to give a chance to local coaches and see where they can take the country. For so long, we have relied on foreign coaches; yet we believe local coaches can do a similar job if not better.” "Local coaches need our trust, patience and time to deliver and we are prepared to give them courses to help in developing their skills,” added Mutabazi. He, however, did not reveal when Amanovic’s replacement will be named.
