Habiyambere for Swiss Masters event

Youngster Ernest Habiyambere has been selected by the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) to compete in the African 14 & under Masters Event slated for November 19-26 in Biel, Switzerland.

Youngster Ernest Habiyambere has been selected by the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) to compete in the African 14 & under Masters Event slated for November 19-26 in Biel, Switzerland.Rwanda Tennis Federation boss Theoneste Karenzi confirmed the news yesterday. According to Karenzi, the tournament will attract the best maleand female players in 2012, following their results in all African 14 & under circuit events as well as winners and runner ups of the African Junior Championships."This is a great achievement for Habiyambere. He has been a focused player, who is aspiring to reach great heights. This tournament will help to improve his career,” Karenzi told this paper.In August, this year, Habiyambere won the first two legs of the ITF/CAT 14 and under junior circuit played in Burundi, before finishing third in the third leg held in Kigali.With his incredible performance, the 13-year old player jumped from ninth to sixth position in new African junior tennis rankings.Apart from featuring in the African Masters event, Habiyambere will take part in the Swiss National Open tournament. However, no Rwandan female player made it.Habiyambere will be joined by top seed and Africa junior championship winner Calvin Jordan from South Africa, Zeineb El Houari (Morocco), Mohammed Aboulkacem, Lamis from Egypt, Lamis Al Hussein (Egypt), Said Nkurunziza (Burundi), Shabani Kabura (Burundi).Others are; Isaac Nortey from Ghana, Shabani Kassalo (Burundi), Jandre Lessing (South Africa), Dominique Romeo Gandonou (Benin), Lumeta Chisomo (Malawi), Emmanuel Sylvestre (Nigeria) and Dean Dulthummon (Mauritania),Girls selected for the event include; Burundian Mariam Mujawimana, Anicette Ahounou (Benin), Boy Amelie (Mauritania), Barnard Zani (South Africa), Randy Randrianasoloson (Madagascar), Marie Ange Adomon (Cote d’Ivoire), Mortagy Hana (Egypt), Sada Nahimana (Burundi), Maelyn Chan Tam Neng (Mauritania), Ali Lasheen Habiba (Egypt),If any of these players excel in the Masters 14 & under 2012, they will be able to participate in the ITF junior events Grade 4 & 5 in 2013.
