Innocent Buregeya, a local artist is launching his solo exhibition at Heaven Restaurant in Kigali.Buregeya’s show- ‘Together in Step’ features a selection of drawings and paintings that have never been shown before in the country. Intricate, delicate and a little dark, Buregeya’s hand drawn artworks reveal the experimental artistry of his process. The opening of his second solo exhibition last Friday, attracted people from different walks of life, who were inspired by his beautiful pieces that range from various paintings on canvas to sculptures displaying various human activities. "The main objective of this art exhibition is to show people that when we work or walk together, we meet with different people from which we share different experiences and this develops us,” said Buregeya. Gentle music and refreshments are what people relaxed to, as they admired the artworks, sharing experiences with the artist himself and creating an inspirational mood.    Buregeya’s work is inspired by life, nature and the surroundings, which he translates into art."I am grateful because people appreciate my work,” said Buregeya, "meeting with different people today has really brought inspiration to me.” The artist commended Toues Amahoro for organising the exhibition. He urged his fellow artists to work harder and venture in different types artworks to bring out creativity so as to perfect the talent in them.Buregeya is an artist in the true sense of the word. When he’s not thinking of new ideas for his paintings, sculptures and prints, he’s looking into funding opportunities, gallery support, commissions, and media buzz to keep his work vital and in the public eye. As anyone in the arts can attest, the world of self-promotion is a non-stop hustle and not for the weak-hearted. As much as one does it for love or for the sake of art, Buregeya said that the realities of the ‘business’ require you to treat it as such. The exhibition started October 13 and runs until 31, this month. Doors open from 6 p.m to 10 p.m.
