The Amavubi Stars are in a must win scenario against Mauritania in the 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers due today at Nyamirambo stadium.

Amavubi team goes in today’s game with only one option of securing maximum points in her first qualifying campaign in group eight of the World/Africa Cup qualifiers.

Head coach Tucak Blanko is expected to use his preferred 3-5-2 formation, an arrangement emphasized to force Mauritania play in its own half as Rwanda closes in for goals.

Blanko has already predicted victory in today’s tie whose winner starts the 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifying campaign on a promising note.

"I believe the assembled squad will acquire maximum points. The 3-5-2 formation will be used as away of enabling my team score many goals,"

"Am hungry for goals and I have compact confidence in my squad," Blanko said.

On the other hand, his opposite number Alain Moizan is expected to field a full strength side save for skipper Seydou Nourou M’bodj who is nursing an injury.

Either of the Rwanda’s influential foreign based players Olivier Karekezi and Hamad Ndikumana is set to be handed the captain’s armband. A win for Blanko will restore his tattered public confidence after a 4-0 walloping at the hands of Sudan. Blanko is hoping that the services of five professionals could overturn the declining team performances and salvage his career in Rwanda. It’s Ndikumana, Karekezi, Said Abedi, Bobo Bola and Fritz Nkusi as well as the local lot that Blanko will be relying on to save his face.

Rwanda faces Mauritania in her first qualifying campaign tie today before playing away to Ethiopia in Addis Ababa on June 7.

Rwanda is expected to host the Morocco a week later before playing the Atlas Lions in a return leg on June 21.

On September 7, the 2002 Nations Cup finalists head to Nouakchott for the second leg against Mauritania before winding up their campaign with a home game against Ethiopia on October 12.
