Art exhibition as Germany-Rwanda strengthen bilateral ties

Thursday evening ushered in an exciting weekend of great entertainment and inspiration, as six leading Rwandan artists showcased exceptional artworks at Jumelage, in Kigali city.The event started at 6:30 p.m, bringing together a collection of beautifully displayed work of paintings. The exhibition marked the first anniversary celebration for the already robust bilateral relations between Rwanda and Germany. Speaking at the event, Patrick Ruganintwali, a local visual artist and one of the organisers, said that the first exhibition was held in March this year and it attracted over 100 artists, including foreigners."We decided to organise this exhibition to show Rwandese the skills we learnt from our previous trip in Germany,” said Ruganintwali. "There has been cooperation between Rwanda and Germany but in various sectors like; education, culture among others. Art is a new sector that has been introduced on the agenda,” he noted. In attendance were Roger Lewente, German Minister and Richard Auernhemes, who led a delegation of German guests and Jean Philbert Nsengimana, Rwanda’s Minister of Youth and ICT, among other dignitaries.  Minister Lewente commended the existing cordial relations between the two nations, adding that they also intend to focus on Art as a new sector. Nsengimana also expressed gratitude for the good cooperation between the two countries.Guests were also treated to delicious snacks, drinks traditional performances by Twizerane cultural troupe.The exhibition started on October 7 and concluded on Oct. 13.
