REJUVENATED Young Africans (Yanga) put their Vodacom Premier League campaign back on track with a deserved 3-1 win over struggling Toto African in a thrilling match at CCM Kirumba Stadium on Thursday.Goals by Mbuyu Twite, Didier Kavumbagu and Jerry Tegete were enough to give the Tanzanian giants a win as Toto Afrika pulled a goal back through Said Mussa but that was not enough as they succumbed to yet another loss.Mbuyu whose transfer to join Yanga was clouded by controversies proved his worth as Yanga scored the opener ahead of strolling into the dressing rooms.Yanga started the league on a losing note leading to the sacking of their coach Tom Saintfiet. It was Yanga’s third victory of the season after seven appearances when they handed hosts Toto Africa the second defeat, the first at home. The win has relieved Yanga players, officials and fans after flopping in their Bukoba visits at the hands of Kagera Sugar last Monday.Yanga have so far dislodged Kagera Sugar from the third place in the standings table after attaining eleven points. The team was on seventh with eight points prior to yesterday’s victory. It was the first victory for the Dutch coach Ernest Brandts (formerly with Rwanda Champions APR), who joined the team barely two weeks ago to replace Belgian Tom Saintfiet. Simba are still at the helm of the 14-team top flight league with 16 points, three ahead of Azam FC, who have a game in hand.
