A Rwandan art exhibition, "Together in Step” opens today at Heaven Restaurant and Bar in Kiyovu, from 6p.m-10pm. The exhibition ends on October 31.On display will be local brush paintings, oil paintings and sculpture masterpieces. This is the work of Innocent Buregeya, an artist whose painting style is influenced by the environment around him, with an appreciation for lively colors, modern designs, playful characters and stories from his everyday encounters and observations. Buregeya is a self-taught, visual artist and he specializes in live clay and paintings. The 24-year-old held his first solo exhibition which he says was a success, earlier this year in the U.S. The 20-day exhibition is Buregeya’s second solo exhibition and will this, time round, feature, among other magnificent artworks, the "Last Meal”, which the painter says was inspired by nature, life and the surroundings.A colorful character himself, Buregeya knows how to tell a good story – and his paintings are a testament to his humour and unique perspective of human condition. The painter has come full circle in life. He’s back doing what he loves: painting the people and stories that capture his imagination. Also on display are member works in the auxiliary gallery.
