RUSIZI — The deputy Executive Secretary of the National Aids Commission (CNLS) ,Antoine Semukanya, has asked district leaders to begin serious vetting of all partners involved in Aids interventions in Rusizi.

Addressing several officials of different organisations seeking to reverse the spread of Aids in the district, Semukanya said partners who fail to submit timely reports of their action plans to the District Aids Commission (CDLS), and district leaders, do not deserve operating.

The meeting was convened at Centre Pastoral conference hall in Kamembe Sector on Tuesday.

"It should be a must with effect from this year for you as concerned district leaders to begin eliminating all incompetent personnel dealing in HIV/AIDS related projects and activities in the area. For example, those [associations] that fail to hand in their action plan reports to the district Aids Commission in time should always be scrapped because their failure to submit their action plans would affect our performance as CNLS in the fight against HIV/AIDS," he said, adding that other districts should follow suit.

He continued that district leaders need to regularly supervise all CNLS partners and inspect their activities in the region in order to offer them the necessary advice on combating the Aids scourge.

On activities of NGOs working with CNLS, he said they should always indicate the timeframe of their activities and aim at doing long term projects that would help in improving the living standards of all Rwandans over time.
