ZAMBIA Football Association Vice President Boniface Mwamelo said he was still unhappy about the state of the field ahead of the Oct. 13 game between Uganda Cranes and Zambia in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.Mwamelo, who is part of the six-man Zambia advance party to Uganda-after touring Namboole Stadium located on the outskirts of the capital Kampala- said since they inspected the stadium three weeks ago, there is a slight change although a lot more improvement must be done before match day. "We are used to playing in better playing surfaces and I pray that the place is better by Saturday,” he said. The Zambia general secretary George Kasengele wrote to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) three weeks ago complaining about the state of Uganda’s 42,500 Capacity Stadium. "When people talk of the falling standards of the game on our continent, examples such as these brings out glaring truths,” Kasengele said in his letter to CAF.The Zambians have asked CAF for urgent intervention into this matter and requested that the Uganda FA urgently consider rehabilitating the playing area. Uganda’s FA spokesman, Rogers Mulindwa said that the playing surface will be fine by match day. "We also want to play on a good playing surface,” he said. The African champions Zambia beat Uganda 1-0 in the first leg two weeks ago in Ndola and the Cranes now need to win by over two goals to qualify for the Nations Cup since their last appearance in 1978.
