Gambia and Senegal are at a negotiating table on how to release the 25 Senegalese who are under death row in Gambia, government source told Xinhua on Monday. According to the information, the government of Senegal has send a team of delegation to the Gambians authority in September to confirm the number of Senegalese who are under death row sentence in the West African nation. Senegal has confirmed that 25 Senegalese national are currently under death row sentence in the Gambia and are waiting for execution. "We have discussed frankly... to ensure that a strong bilateral relationship that exists between Banjul and Dakar is well cemented and we have also discussed on the release of the 25 Senegalese who are in Gambian prison”, the officials noted. Gambia’s government in August has announced the execution of nine inmates who were on death row and were executed by a firing squad.
