Countrywide activities organised this year to mark the ‘Family Campaign’ are expected to begin tomorrow under the stewardship of the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion.According to officials from the ministry, the campaign, which takes place for the second time after a similar one last year, will focus on how easily families can access financial services as a way of achieving the ‘family performance contracts’.The month-long activities are expected to be launched tomorrow in Byimana Sector, Ruhango district in the Southern Province.  Last year, families signed "Performance Contracts” as a way of renewing their commitment to elevate their socio-economic status."We need to ensure that families save and invest as this will enable growth in their income that will make it possible to cater for the children’s needs in an appropriate way,” said Emmanuel Nzaramba, the Director of Family Promotion Unit in the ministry. He explained that, as strides are made to promote the culture and family values, there is also need to build on their economic status. Among others, the campaign is expected to build the capacity of family members to seek solutions to the problems they encounter in a way of maintaining self respect and dignity. The "Family Campaign” is one of the initiatives that the ministry has put in place to build strong families for stability and national development. Others include programmes to educate spouses to amicably solve issues that might lead to family break-ups and delegating gender monitors at district levels among others. These officers have significantly helped in building strong families through the prevention and fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases among couples or partners.
