There is a common trend that is going round in offices these days and it is worrying. It looks like most ladies have thrown all the caution to the wind when it comes to office etiquette. You either see ladies wearing very tight or very short clothes exposing their bodies at the wrong places. I was so embarrassed a few days ago, when a colleague came to work dressed in a very short dress, that she was the center of attention the whole day is an understatement. Whoever was looking at her was with scorn, because she chose the wrong place to display her wares.Dressing properly to the office does not translate to old age or being out of fashion; but it means you are a decent lady and people will respect you for it. Remember people will judge you by how you dress and carry yourself, both in and out of office. Trouser suitA trouser suit is a wardrobe staple for every working class woman and office appropriate. These days they can be found in more formal styles with many fashion options. It is versatile as it can be worn together or the separates can be combined with other pieces to create a wide variety of outfits. The trousers can be paired with a sweater for a more casual look, while the blazer can coordinate nicely with jeans for end of week wear. Depending with your style, classic or trendy, a trouser suit is a must for any woman. Skirt suit A good skirt suit is a must have for women. A skirt suit offers women a variety of fashion options. The good thing these pieces can be worn together or separately, offering women mix and match outfit options. A nice skirt suit can easily transition from the office to a dinner. Initially most ladies’ suits were available in traditional neutrals like black, grey, brown or navy, but now they can be found in brighter colours and latest patterns.DressThis is the most abused clothing of all these days, they are worn very short to the office. Ladies, when looking for a dress, get one that is knee-length or slightly below the knee. A shorter dress will look provocative and inappropriate for work, while a longer one will likely appear matronly and unprofessional. Choose a solid-colored dress or one with a fairly conservative pattern. Good colors are black, white, neutrals, grays, blues. A very brightly colored dress or an elaborate pattern, for example, might be too eye-catching for the office. Skirt paired with frilly blouseA pencil skirt paired with a frilly or button blouse comes in handy on those days when you don’t want to wear a suit or a dress. To make this outfit more fun and feminine, you can also pair them with a print top, or a tie-front for extra style. Opt for a skirt that skims your hips and is tailored to the knee, and the blouse should not be too tight in manner suggesting it belongs to your younger sister.Jeans and button down blouse/T-shirtSome companies have a dress code every Friday; that may be jeans with company T-shirts or any other top of your liking. But this is not to say that ladies should wear blouses which expose your cleavage in its entirety. A decent, trendy and chic blouse will do in most cases. If your pants are tight, ripped and too low, neither of them complies with office dress guidelines. Get a decent pair of jeans and be smart.Promotion comes because of so many factors, dressing the part can also boost your chances of being promoted. How you dress speaks a lot about you.
