MUHANGA — The African Evangelist Enterprise (AEE) has embarked on training members of school parents’ committees in order to uproot the existing genocide ideology among residents.

Opening the three-day workshop on Tuesday, Raphaél Mushumba, the AEE official said, "The participants will obtain comprehensive skills on healing and trauma and will be ambassadors in their respective schools and families."

She added, "The fear and respect of God is the underlining factor in the process."

The training attracted 108 participants at EPR Church-Muhanga.

It was conducted by experts on unity and reconciliation

The training dubbed healing and reconciliation through literacy programme has been focusing on nine primary school pupils but it will soon be extended to more youths, teachers and church leaders in Muhanga and Kamonyi districts.

Mushumba asserted that the training is aimed at having an integrated response of the community to the issues affecting them. But she stressed that uprooting genocide ideology comes at the forefront which calls for training of everyone.

The participants included head teachers, teachers and parents’ representative from various schools in the district. The participants were taken through the impact of Christianity and colonial rule on Rwandan society today.
