The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Rwanda (ICPAR) on Tuesday released the 23rd examination results for both Certified Public Accountants (CPA) and Certified Accounting Technicians (CAT).
These exams were administered between April 24 to 28 at the following examination Centres; Kigali Independent University (ULK); University of Kigali (Musanze campus), University of Rwanda (UR-Rusizi Campus); and University of Rwanda (UR-Huye Campus).
For the just concluded sitting, 1,208 students registered for April 2023 examinations. These were made up of 932 CPAs and 276 CATs compared to 1352 (1004 CPAs and 348 CATs) registered in December 2022 sitting.
Hence, a decrease of 7% and 21% for CPA and CAT respectively and the main reason for the decrease is attributable to the decrease of the number of sponsored students for April 2023 sitting.
The overall average pass rates for April 2023 sitting are 48% for CPA and 58% for CAT compared to 55% (CPA) and 40% (CAT) in December 2022 sitting. In general, the increase in performance of CAT is attributable to the ample exam preparation period, face to face classes as well as the revision classes organized by ICPAR while the decrease in performance of CPA is attributable to more new students who started at the intermediate level and failed.
In regard to April 2023 results, a total of 68 students (52 CPAs and 16 CATs) have fully completed the CPA (R) and CAT (R) qualifications respectively. This brings the total of 331 candidates who have completed the CPA(R) qualification and 260 candidates who have completed the CAT(R) qualification.
The institute hereby congratulates all candidates who passed their various examination papers and more specifically those that have successfully completed the CPA (R) and CAT (R) qualification. Our commiserations to those that did not make it this time round. We again remind you that "failure doesn't mean stopping; it just means you haven't succeeded yet." And the ideal is, stop when you are done.
The management of ICPAR thanks examiners, moderators, markers, security teams, invigilators, staff, checkers, other service providers and partners for their contributions towards a successful examinations process.
