Police FC head coach Goran Kuponovic was left disappointed with his team’s performance in the draw against the champions APR on Saturday at Amahoro stadium. The top two teams in the country met on the third day of the 2012/13 Primus National Football League season but the match didn’t live up to the expectations. The match ended 1-1 and it is what both teams probably deserved for putting on a below par performance, which left Police’s Serbian coach Goran upset in a way.He admitted, "Both teams played poor football. It is not good to see the biggest teams in the league play with low levels of intensity.”"Today our performance was so poor and playing in-front of near empty stadium did not help the players either. We don’t have a big fan base but even the few that we have need to start coming at stadiums to support their team,” he said.Midfielder Jean Claude Iranzi put APR ahead in the 17th minute but Eric Ndahayo netted the equalizer for last season’s league and cup runners–up ten minutes from time.Goran, whose team has collected five from a possible nine, would be expected to be happy with a point against the defending champions, but instead he was left fuming about the performance of both teams. "It is not good for big teams like APR and Police to play like that but we will continue to work hard on the training ground. I know it’s early in the season but I can’t cover up for this awful performance.’ "We need to work hard and play some good football which will bring the fans back to the stadiums. Players need support and without the fans, it’s hard for players to up their game.” he explained. It was the first meeting between the two rivals since they both took a radical decision to stop using foreign players and instead rely on home-grown talent. Last season, Police took four points off the military side, but still fell short of winning their first ever silverware.
