Rayon extend losing streak

Rayon Sports’ awful start to the new season continued with yet another home defeat against La Jeunesse on Sunday at their new home in Nyanza.

With coach Ali Bizimungu in the dugout for the first time this season, Rayon hoped to record their first win of the campaign but it wasn’t to be a happy return for the acting head coach.Since moving back to their original home in Nyanza after 26 years in Kigali, Rayon started the season with a home loss against Amagaju before being humbled by AS Kigali 3-1 last week.Elsewhere, new-look Isonga FC secured their first victory of the season after thumping Amagaju 3-1 courtesy of strikers Justin Mico, Sulaiman Kakira and midfielder Bertrand Iradukunda.Rusizi-based Espoir secured a 2-1 win over Etincelles in Rubavu. The victory takes Espoir to fifth position with six points.Musanze overpowered fellow newcomers AS Muhanga to record their second 2-0 victory of the season. Musanze are third with the champions APR with seven points each.At Kamena, Mukura secured their first win of the season after beating visitors Marines 1-0. SC Kiyovu is the only team with a perfect record after three rounds of matches. Jean Baptist Kayiramga’s side beat AS Kigali 1-0 at Mumena stadium on Saturday. The lone goal was scored by veteran striker Bokota Labama.In another game played on Saturday, defending champions APR were forced to a 1-all draw by rivals Police at Amahoro stadium. APR got the opener through midfielder Jean Claude Iranzi before Eric Ndahayo scored the equaliser ten minutes from time.
