The victory leaves SC Kiyovu as the only team with maximum nine points after three rounds of matches played so far following APR’s draw with Police. Defeat for AS Kigali, who had won their first two matches, brought their perfect record to an early end.The big game of the day between defending champion APR and rivals Police ended in a 1-all stalemate at Amahoro stadium.Midfielder Jean Claude Iranzi put the military side ahead with a left-footed strike from 30 yards on 17th minute which left Police keeper Evariste Mutuyimana with no chance before substitute Eric Ndahayo equalized ten minutes from time. With both teams struggling to break each down in a cagey affair, the champions took the first most of the first initiatives in the first half, forcing Mutuyimana into making a couple of decent saves from Iranzi and Farouk Ruhinda. On the other hand, Jean Claude Ndoli was forced to make superb save from Imran Nshimiyimana’s effort on 25th minute. Midfielder Innocent Habyarimana had his effort well saved just before the half time whistle. Police returned from the break the stronger team with Coach Goran Kopunovic bringing former APR striker Ernest Kwizera for Jaques Tuyisenge and Eric Ndahayo for Nshimiyimana. The move paid off immediately as Police controlled the proceedings in the midfield as they searched for the equalizer. Ndahayo scored Police’s equaliser from a defensive error committed by Ismail Nshutiyamagara with ten minutes left on the clock. The draw leaves APR in second position with 7 points while Police has moved to fourth position with five points. The league continues this afternoon with Rayon Sport hosting youthful La Jeunesse in Nyanza.
